Climate Change Video

Climate change is a far bigger problem than Covid 19. The world panicked when Covid 19 arrived. The entire world went into panic mode, lockdowns, economic breakdown and huge costs incurred. The world will recover to some sort of new normal until a new pandemic arrives.

We need to go into panic mode about climate change, the panic has started BUT needs to gain momentum

• we think it is far in the future,
• or humans will somehow stop it,
• maybe science will come up with some way to reverse it,
• or that it is a problem that the rest of the world must sort out,
• or that Covid 19 and the next pandemic has nothing much to do with climate change.

However, much of climate change is already with us and started decades ago

• the latest data is that we have to change before 2030 or we will end up with irreversible changes
• 10 years is to short a time to get new technologies up to scale
• even the most optimistic estimates of a magic bullet may be at least 20 – 30 years in the future
• the rest of the world is not sorting it out, even the latest G7 meeting is just talking about a plan, no plan yet
• within the next 5 – 10 years we will be fighting a new medical pandemic, which is part of changes made by climate.

Climate change has the potential to be much worse than this medical pandemic, unless we start now to get it changed around. Many of the changes which have begun are self sustaining which means that even in the best scenario things will get worse before they start getting better. Planetary changes happen over very long periods. Extremes we are now experiencing started over 100 years ago. Changes to fix the problems that we start now, may only be effective in 100 years time. Maybe too late for the human species because of the reinforcing of different elements of climate change.

There have been many papers published, much commentary and many videos made. Much of this is very technical and it is not easy to sort out the facts from the denial tactics and from the scare mongers.
